This summer what better way to
complete our eleventh full year of publishing than to feature some of
the most intriguing artists in music today. In our July-August
issue internationally-renowned conductor, Paavo Järvi, takes our cover
page; with his intuitive approach to live music-making this Estonian
is sure to captivate your interest.
Our extensive competition results
coverage including those from the Montreal International Music Competition,
Prix d’Europe and Brussel’s Queen Elisabeth Competition, will update
you on this year’s winners such as determined young artists, Marianne
Fiset and Caroline Chéhadé. And, what’s summer without a whiff of
jazz in the air; jazz sensations Sophie Milman and Nikki Yanofsky share
their soulful sides with us.
NEW from LSM! - While this
issue is going to press, we are already hard at work and very excited
about what’s in store for you, our readers, in September. The team
which continues to bring you the music magazines, La Scena Musicale
(a bilingual magazine for Quebec), The Music Scene Ontario
and The Music Scene West (English magazines for Ontario and Western
Canada) along with the prize-winning website, www.scena.org,
will be launching a new magazine, La Scena, on August
27.
La Scena,
our upcoming new bilingual quarterly publication will be the only magazine
of its kind in Montreal completely devoted to arts and culture with
distribution throughout the city and the Quebec City region. It will
celebrate the Quebec arts and culture scene: music
(the award-winning music magazine, La Scena Musicale, will be
inserted inside La Scena), theatre, dance, visual arts,
cinema, museums and festivals. Critical reviews, previews, interviews
and in-depth articles will contribute to an overview of arts and culture
that is as informative as it is entertaining.
Just in time for back-to-school,
the inaugural issue of La Scena will feature the autumn
cultural preview as well as guides to arts teachers, arts craftspeople
and retailers, choirs, musical competitions and arts season
subscriptions.
The launch of La Scena
signals a new distribution campaign for LSM. While copies will be made
available at music and art schools to contribute to the education of
the next generation of artists, a large percentage of the magazine will
be sent to targeted households in Montreal and Québec City to increase
subscriptions. The rest can be purchased through newsstands across the
province and through paid subscriptions.
Subscription orders for
La Scena (or La Scena Musicale) made by August 15th will
be entered into a draw for a pair of Opera de Montréal season subscriptions
valued at $924, thanks to the company’s generosity. Be sure to order
early!
We are thrilled to offer you more
each year and hope that you continue
to support our efforts. Your loyalty and encouragement, and your
subscriptions, donations and other contributions are what motivate us
all year round.
Have a great musical summer! See
you in September. Version française... |
