5 Browns, 5 Steinways / Une famille de cinq sur cinq pianos

 

In this beautifully shot video of The 5 Browns playing Gershiwin's Rhapsody in Blue, it's easy to see why these young Mormon siblings have been rocking the classical music world since 2002, when People magazine dubbed them the "Fab Five."

The piano quintet — Ryan, Melody, Gregory, Deondra, and Desirae — often perform together in various combinations, from duo to complex five-piano arrangements. Their success landed long before People or Oprah discovered them — each child began piano lessons at the age of three, each made their debut with a major symphony orchestra by the age of nine. They were the first family of five siblings ever accepted simultaneously to Juilliard.

While the 5 Browns have been making music and sharing much of their lives together, the one thing they don't share is their instruments. With five pianos to pick and choose, it's a good thing they can all agree on being exclusive Steinway artists.

Les cinq pianistes (Ryan, Melody, Gregory, Deondra et Desirae) donnent souvent des spectacles en différentes combinaisons, du duo au quintette. Leur succès date de bien avant leur découverte par People et Oprah. Ils ont tous commencé leurs cours de piano vers l’âge de trois ans, et ils avaient tous donné leur premier concert avec un grand orchestre symphonique à l'âge de neuf ans. C’est la première fois qu’une famille de cinq se retrouve en même temps à l’école de musique Juilliard.

Malgré leur vie familiale et artistique commune, ces cinq jeunes ne partagent pas leurs instruments, sauf qu’ils ont tous une nette préférence pour les Steinway.
