Bechstein Announces the New Golden Key Salon Series: 
New and Distinguished Performers, Wine Receptions, Premiere Performances
 


New York, NY – Bechstein Piano Centre will launch the new Golden Key Salon Series this fall, featuring both new and distinguished performers. The opening concert on October 1 will include the New York premiere of Parsifal, a collaborative work by John McDowell, composer of the score for the Academy Award–winning film Born Into Brothels, and Emmanuel Vukovich, award-winning violinist. Mr. McDowell and Mr. Vukovich will perform this piece, which is based on the Parsifal legend. Designed to bring artists and audience together, each concert will offer performances by several artists and will be followed by a wine reception with the artists. The salons will be held at 7:00 p.m. on the first Thursday of the month, from October through May, at the Bechstein Piano Centre, 207 West 58th Street, New York City.
 


Presented in partnership with Golden Key Music Institute, the series will also include a piano master class, titled Cultivating Your Authentic Artistic Voice, with Madeline Bruser, founder of the Institute. Ms. Bruser is author of The Art of Practicing: A Guide to Making Music from the Heart, and has conducted seminars and workshops at the Juilliard School and other U.S. conservatories. At this master class she will introduce and demonstrate her unique, holistic approach to the piano, helping an accomplished performer release tension and unleash greater musicality. The audience will be invited to ask questions after the presentation.
 


“I’m so delighted to be offering this series at Bechstein,” Ms. Bruser said. “I have always loved their pianos and find them amazingly responsive. It’s a human and elegant place, and I feel very at home there.”
 


Other series performers will include pianists Pavel Gintov and Susan Buffington, mezzo-soprano Maria Elena Armijo, flutist Abbe Rose Krieger, jazz pianist Michael Cabe, and violinist Gary Kosloski. Mr. Kosloski will also play a Golden Key benefit recital of Romantic chamber music with pianist Gerald Robbins and cellist Jonathan Ruck on October 26.
