Prˆ©sidˆ© par M. Andrˆ© Bourbeau, cofondateur et prˆ©sident du CMIM, le jury de l’Äôˆ©dition 2010 sera composˆ© de M. Patrice Fontanarosa (France), violon-solo honoraire de l'Orchestre National de France et titulaire d'une classe de perfectionnement ˆÝ la Schola Cantorum de Paris; de M. Rodney Friend (Royaume-Uni), violon-solo durant plus de trente ans, notamment des London et New York Philharmonic Orchestras et de la BBC Symphony Orchestra; de M. Michael Frischenschlager (Autriche), professeur rˆ©putˆ© et prˆ©sident du Concours International de Violon Fritz Kreisler de Vienne; de M. Dong Suk Kang (ˆâtats-Unis), professeur ˆÝ l’ÄôUniversitˆ© Yonsei de Sˆ©oul et codirecteur artistique du Festival MusicAlp ˆÝ Courchevel; de M. Montreal, Friday, November 13, 2009 ’Äî The Montreal International Musical Competition (MIMC) officially announces the names of the jury members for the Competition’Äôs upcoming 2010 Violin edition.

Presided over by MIMC president and co-founder Andrˆ© Bourbeau, the jury for the 2010 edition will be made up of Mr. Patrice Fontanarosa (France), honorary concertmaster of the Orchestre National de France, and tenured lecturer of an advanced training class at La Schola Cantorum in Paris; Mr. Rodney Friend (United Kingdom), concertmaster for more than thirty years, notably of the London and New York Philharmonic Orchestras and the BBC Symphony Orchestra; Mr. Michael Frischenschlager (Austria), renowned teacher and President of the Fritz Kreisler International Violin Competition in Vienna; Mr. Dong Suk Kang (United States), professor at the Yonsei University in Seoul, and co-artistic director of the MusicAlp Festival in France; Mr. Paul Kantor (United States), renowned teacher and currently the Eleanor H. Biggs Distinguished Professor of Violin at the Cleveland Institute of Music; and Canadian violinists Vladimir Landsman, Associate Professor at the Universitˆ© de Montrˆ©al’Äôs Faculty of Music, who has performed all over the world, and Martin Beaver, renowned soloist, who in May 2002 was named First Violin of the Tokyo String Quartet, with which he has performed in the major capitals of the world. The imposed Canadian work will be an original composition for solo violin by composer Kelly-Marie Murphy, whose music has been performed in the United Kingdom, Japan, across Europe and North America by outstanding soloists and ensembles.

MIMC administrators are also proud of the participation of Mr. Simon Durivage ’Äî host on Radio-Canada’Äôs Rˆ©seau de l’Äôinformation, pianist, music lover, and spokesperson for a third year.
The 2010 Violin edition of the MIMC will take place from May 24 to June 4, when Montreal will be host to some of the world’Äôs finest young violinists. Candidates are invited to register on line now.
