Founder of Cavalia and former Cirque du Soleil executive named to
National Arts Centre Board of Trustees

(Ottawa, Canada) ’Äì The Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, has announced the appointment of Normand Latourelle as vice’Äëchair of the National Arts Centre’Äôs board of trustees.

Mr. Latourelle is the president and founder of the renowned multimedia equestrian show ’ÄúCavalia,’Äù which attracts millions of spectators around the world. He was the executive vice’Äëpresident and director general of Cirque du Soleil.

Mr. Latourelle has also created major productions, including the sound and light show on Parliament Hill and the Lˆ©gendes Fantastiques production in Drummondville, which has been presented for the last ten years.

Mr. Latourelle has worked as an agent, editor, and producer of records and shows for Quebec performing artists. He developed tours for a number of Quebec’Äôs top artistic talents, including Jean-Pierre Ferland, Diane Dufresne, and Robert Charlebois. He has been awarded many honours, including Chevalier of the Ordre national du Quˆ©bec (2007), the Prix Hommage (2004) from La Sociˆ©tˆ© des Attractions Touristiques du Quˆ©bec, and was Personnalitˆ© de la semaine by La Presse (2004 and 2009).

The National Arts Centre (NAC) is a federal cultural organization dedicated primarily to developing and showcasing the performing arts in the National Capital Region and across Canada.
