Le Spotlight: Montreal's Musical Theatre Challenge 2008 is proud to invite you to the second annual edition of this exciting musical extravaganza. The ten finalists are ready to show off their skills in competition at Salle du Gesu on Wednesday, May 21 accompanied by an eight-piece orchestra in front of a live audience.

Le Spotlight 2008 will also feature guest performances by Frayne McCarthy, formerly of Les Misˆ©rables and soon to be in the Canadian national tour of The Sound of Music, Yanick Lanthier, who toured Asia with Rent and is about to star in the Canadian premiere of Altar Boyz and Patrick Olafson, whose one-man tribute to the music of Michel Legrand plays at Place des Arts two days after his appearance in Le Spotlight.

Le Spotlight audience members will be treated to excerpts from such varied musicals as Bajour and Funny Girl. As usual, the emphasis will be on dramatic interpretation rather than vocal performance alone. The winner of Le Spotlight will earn the right to have a featured performance in August at The Next Wave Festival of New Musicals to be held at the Gesu and the McCord Museum.

As a unique event designed to showcase the combined power of music and theatre by Montreal artists, Le Spotlight will be a full evening of heartfelt emotion and exceptional thrills.
