La SCENA / La Scena Musicale goes National for the Summer

(Version franˆßaise)

In June La SCENA goes national for the first time with a doubling of the normal print run distributed in English Canada; the Summer 2008 issue features a cover story on the Governor General of Canada, Michaˆ´lle Jean. In a special interview, Her Excellency and her husband Jean-Daniel Lafond discuss their love of the arts and the meaning of art in their lives. This issue will also feature articles on printmaking and the art of framing. Our special feature "Destination Quˆ©bec" explores the Quebec City region's cultural offerings, including our favourite picks of its 400th anniversary celebrations. We also profile arts agent and producer Michel Buruiana in honour of his 25 years on the arts scene.

Printed in combination with its arts quarterly cousin La SCENA, the June issue of La Scena Musicale features a cover interview with Canadian baritone Jean-Franˆßois Lapointe. Inside, we also interview Analekta's founder and president Mario Labbˆ© on the occasion of his label's 20th anniversary. Of course, we continue our coverage of the changes at CBC Radio 2 and the future of classical radio in Canada. And it wouldn't be a June issue without our annual Summer Festival Guide! The Guide will offer comprehensive listings for classical music festivals, plus a look at Arts festivals across Canada.

Our other regular La Scena Musicale features include the Jazz and World music sections, CD and DVD reviews, and of course, the June regional music calendar.

June will also feature a guide to subscriptions for the 2008-09 season. Keep an eye out for our summer classical festival guide in June. For more information on these guides, please consult:
