M. Jacques Marquis, directeur gnral et artistique des Jeunesses Musicales du Canada (JMC), et du Concours Musical International de Montral (CMIM), recevait le mercredi 7 mai dernier, le Prix Reconnaissance 2008 de l'cole des sciences de la gestion de l'Universit du Qubec Montral (UQAM). Le prix, remis devant de nombreuses personnalits montralaises et qubcoises, souligne la qualit exceptionnelle du cheminement de carrire de ce diplm en administration de l'UQAM et sa contribution au rayonnement et l'essor, non seulement des JMC et du CMIM, mais de l'ensemble de la collectivit.
Je suis particulirement touch et remercie bien sincrement mon alma mater pour cet honneur prestigieux; une carrire se construit force de travail et de persvrance; elle repose cependant sur une quipe formidable qui, chaque jour, contribue de faon incroyable la russite de nos ambitions dclarait M. Marquis au moment de recevoir son prix.
Symbole par excellence de la russite, le Prix Reconnaissance UQAM est une rcompense annuelle qui souligne la qualit exceptionnelle du parcours de ses diplms qui, par leurs ralisations et leurs engagements, contribuent au dveloppement de leur secteur d'tudes et de leur sphre d'activit professionnelle.
Jacques Marquis est le directeur gnral et artistique des Jeunesses Musicales du Canada depuis 2002. Sous sa gouverne et grce son dynamisme et ses qualits professionnelles, les JMC connaissent prsentement une forte expansion, tant par le nombre des concerts donns que par le public rejoint. Mentionnons aussi que ds sa premire anne la barre des JMC, il a contribu mettre sur pied le Concours Musical International de Montral, considr aujourd'hui comme l'une des grandes manifestations culturelles au Canada, et dont il dirige depuis les destines. La prochaine dition du CMIM, consacre au piano, se droulera du 19 au 29 mai 2008.
M. Marquis sige aussi plusieurs conseils d'administrations. Il vient d'ailleurs d'tre nomm membre du CA de la Fdration Mondiale des Concours Internationaux de Musique, lors de l'assemble gnrale tenue tout rcemment Tbilissi, en Gorgie. Fonde en 1957, cette fdration sise Genve entretient un rseau universel d'organisations musicales reconnues mondialement. Seuls les concours satisfaisant des normes musicales et organisationnelles leves peuvent y adhrer.

Jacques Marquis honoured
Mr. Jacques Marquis, Executive and Artistic Director of Jeunesses Musicales of Canada (JMC) and the Montreal International Musical Competition (MIMC), received the 2008 Award of Recognition (Prix Reconnaissance) from the School of Management Sciences (cole des sciences de la gestion) at the Universit du Qubec Montral (UQAM) this past May 7. This award, presented before a crowd of many Montreal and Quebec personalities, highlights the exceptional career path of this UQAM Administration graduate, and his contribution to the reach and reputation of not only JMC and the MIMC but the community as a whole.
"I am especially touched and I sincerely thank my alma mater for this prestigious honour; a career is built on hard work and perseverance; however, it relies on an extraordinary team that, each day, contributes in an incredible way to the realization of our ambitions," stated Mr. Marquis upon receiving his award.
A symbol of success par excellence, UQAM's Award of Recognition is an annual award that highlights the exceptional quality of the career paths of its graduates who, through their accomplishments and commitments, contribute to the development of their field of study and their sphere of professional activity.
Jacques Marquis has been the Executive and Artistic Director of Jeunesses Musicales of Canada since 2002. Under his leadership, and thanks to his vitality and his professional attributes, JMC is currently undergoing a major expansion, in terms of the number of concerts it presents, as well as the number of spectators it reaches. It should also be mentioned that as of his first year at the helm of the JMC, he contributed to the establishment of the Montreal International Musical Competition today considered to be one of Canada's major cultural events whose destiny he has since guided. The next edition of the MIMC, dedicated to piano, will take place from May 19 to 29, 2008.
Mr. Marquis also sits on several boards of directors. He was appointed to the board of directors of the World Federation of International Music Competitions at their general assembly, held recently in Tbilisi, Georgia. Founded in 1957, this federation, whose home office is in Geneva, represents a worldwide network of internationally recognized musical organizations. Membership in the Federation is open exclusively to competitions that meet its high musical and organizational standards.
